Note to Self: It’s OKAY, just breathe.

So the bathroom I told you all about last week is still not done.   I’ve ran into quite a bit of unexpected issues…  the latest of which, I’m pretty sure almost caused a nervous breakdown.

Our house was built in the 1950’s so there are a lot of things that were made sometime before my parents were born.  One of these things…  the light/heater/vent in the bathroom.  Apparently, they stopped making that particular model in 1958.

I was starting to feel like I’m never going to get the bathroom done after realizing we can’t even get replacement parts for the stupid thing and the wiring is all bad and needs to be replaced.

This wasn’t even what prompted the almost breakdown!  It was walking into the living room and seeing that this has happened:

Not sure if you can tell, but there is a definite bend in the wall that isn’t supposed to be there.

Then I got online.

My homepage is set to ibelieve.com.  It’s a site where you can find a lot of blogs geared toward Christian women.  When I logged on today, the homepage had this:

prayer for chaotic

I read the article and prayed the prayer.  I felt better.

And then my mom called.  I’m getting ready to leave to go there now and get some advice from my stepdad (who actually knows how to fix things and isn’t just winging it like me).

Crisis averted.  Peace restored.  Feeling thankful.

My problems aren’t solved.  The bathroom isn’t magically done and I’m pretty sure we’ve got foundation issues that need to be addressed immediately.  But I’m okay with it.  My family is healthy, happy, and I’m blessed to even have a house that I can have problems with.

I wanted to share the link with you all because someone else might be feeling a little hopeless and chaotic right now too.  I tried to link the pic so that it opens to the site, but just in case it doesn’t work, you can click here.

  1. I have come to believe that as long as I’m making progress, I don’t need to be getting things done ‘on time’–whatever ‘on time’ means! I know your bath will be lovely when done–glad you found a refuge space!

    1. I’m not sure why I let it get to me so much. I’m not on any time table really… other than it’s taking longer than I thought it would. Which, really, it’s pretty silly because it’s only taking longer because I keep having more to do… so it makes sense lol.

  2. When we moved into our current home, we had to live through major renovations. At one point my kitchen sink was being supported by 2 cantilevered 2 by 4s. Take a deep breath and know it will be worth it when it’s all done!

    1. Yeah, our kitchen is in DESPERATE need of being renovated! I close the doors when people come over so they can’t see it. Thankfully, my stepdad doesn’t think that I’ve got any serious foundation issues, so that’s awesome!

      1. Yeah that could be a nightmare! Have you ever watched some of those shows on HGTV where they find all sorts of structural issues, asbestos or mold? I’d be like, let’s just set it on fire and run away!

      2. I used to watch that channel all the time! I wasn’t ready to set it on fire this morning, but I was definitely ready to sell the house and let someone else deal with it. I never thought I’d miss renting lol
